When you start you teenage career you began to develop (a) Personality(ies).
- Some of us ( including myself) rebel against our peers. We were the "weird" kids who have dealt with social judgment. Simply because we decided to take a more. .. original path.
- Some of us decided to just follow trends and "fit in" because the larger population has deemed it normal.
- Some of us envy the originality and demeanor of those who endured the struggle it is to be one of the "weird kids" and have developed a parallel culture. By parallel culture I mean one that claims to be full of originality but only in reality it's a complete contradiction. *cough* H I P S T E R S. :/
As young adults we learn to adjust and turn on different "Personalities" that we've acquired during communicating with different people.
ex.
Black Male : What up bruh?
Black Male 2: What's up nigga?
--
Interviewing White Male: How are you Sir?
Black Male: I'm doing fine, and you fellow?
haha Get it? Cool.
We naturally create sub-personalities to ....Hmm Blend? But Not necessarily blend but when in rome, do as the romans. I'm not sayin you walk into a room full of coke-heads and YOU do a line, but you don't go inside and say "Ewww Ya'll Nasty" either. Am I right? Because you're not completely hiding who you are we'll call these sub-personalities "Masks" You can see the outline, but the face just isn't there. Masks can be in several different forms.
- You've clung to this mask for so long you've accepted that this is who you find most "popular" amongst your peers. This mask is different from others because this mask changes a person's likes, dislikes, morals and ambitions. Scary.
- Another mask is one that allows you to blend momentarily only to let your actual personality shine threw, a uniform perhaps. Appearance is
almosteverything after all. - The final mask is one we all commonly use the family vs friend mask. There are qualities we may have that we wouldn't want our parents, aunts and uncles to see.
These are after-all survival tactics and we're built for survival. We do what we must to get where we want. Would you call someone surviving fake? When you figure out what's real and what isn't let me know. I'll blog about it.
Lol girl tell em' I love the way you organize your posts. Makes it easier to read the point.
ReplyDeleteI think I've figured out what's real.
ReplyDeleteIt's what you want it to be, fake or not.
In all actuality, the world does revolve around each individual person. No one else is going to live your life for you, though they'll swear they will. If you want to do everything according to everyone else you should be able to. All in the name of comfort.
I think people expect others to save them, help them, and walk with them too much.
That aside, it irritates me that people have so many masks. You don't need them. Be a bitch. Be a fighter. Be the person in the room that no one can stand.
So the fuck what?
In situations of danger it would seem appropriate but, eh, we all gotta die someday. May as well die fighting and not whining.
I don't like masks. Not yours or mine or anyones and I love being a person of few whether the mouth vomit becomes toxic or not.
Just remember that the mask your putting on is shiny enough to reflect the mask they all have on. Who gets to just show their real expressions?
